Park Jaehyung

Artist

Park Jaehyung, the seventh friend of WWF, examines the capacity of interposition and interpretation through sculptures. His 'open sculpture' invokes a feeling of uncertainty. The work itself becomes the viewers' rather than the artist's once it it placed; some of the installations encountered in the exhibition need that audience's participation to be complete. Consequently, experiences derived from Park Jaehyung's work are considered to be "both/and" rather than "either/or".

This exhibition consisted of Jaehyung Park's previous work, the dice series, and his new work the . Unlike when the outcome of a dice cube is randomly determined by tossing it, Jaehyung Park's dice finds numerous potentials and possiblities due to it having its numbers overlapped in an unconfined structure. His new type of dice isn't stationary; it keeps rolling once it leaves the hand. Guests can roll, stop, change the direction of the dice, or simply observe it as it rolls and give to it their own significant meaning.

Jaehyung Park's new work, the , shows the possibility of diversity and transformation all within the same framework. Being inspired by nature and it's assymetrical design, he would take wax cast leaves into his hands, transforming it and assembling it, showcasing the various changes and paths the object could take. Guests can take the leaf sculptures and place them however they desire, thus giving countless forms and characters under one title, .
