Nina Kolchitskaia is a painter and photographer born in Moscow, who has lived in several countries and is currently based in Paris. Since childhood, she has used various tools to express her emotions, starting with photography and expanding to fashion, drawing, and poetry to draw her own world. Recombining scenes from her daily life and dreams to immortalize them on canvas, her work is beloved for its romantic colors and dreamy atmosphere. This is her first solo exhibition in Korea, which she has been preparing for since 2021. "le Tour du Monde avant la Tempête" means ‘the world before the storm’ and is about the calm before the storm. The deep silence that comes when the air around you is deflated, when everything stops breathing for a moment, holds infinite possibilities. The uncertainty of not knowing what will come next is depicted in her paintings as a freedom where anything is possible. Nina expresses this momentary silence in frozen landscapes and still lifes. Fish flying in the sky and birds talking to the moon are her own world, created by her free imagination. Each scene exists in a sensuous composition of line, color, and text, and in romantic colors. This exhibition is the first act of her upcoming work, which will showcase a variety of works alongside her paintings. From small cardboard works to large canvas works, a room filled with fabric products utilizing Nina's paintings. The exhibition will also feature ceramics in collaboration with a ceramist, IAAC, and the artist will be in Korea to meet with many visitors in person.
